This week I had some Czech visitors and we had a pretty crazy weekend. They spent the first part of the time at the baths before the national holiday set in and we ended up accidentally heading into a skinhead bar! We high-tailed it out of there immediately but it was still a journey to remember! This, then, is the set that came out of that experience. I tried to make this as anti-Nazi as I could; the farthest from that sentiment as possible. Tyler Straub, a brilliant new producer out of San Mateo, California (wow! very near Great America!!) features prominently in the set with some very nice jazz-influenced tunes. Baixo Capoeira is really, really nice, don’t miss it. Also on the plate this week is Flaco out of Gainesville, Florida, with Glimmer; yet another young and upcoming producer. They are definitely two to watch in the near future. Enjoy!

This week ushers in the first installment of the weekly Phuture Frequency podcast, “The Sounds of Phuture Frequency” hosted by yours truly. After the crack-esque posting frenzy of a couple of weeks ago, the management was kind enough to ask me to host this weekly offering seeing as I might be able to keep the pace. Thanks management!

The Sounds of Phuture Frequency begins its tenure with a nice selection of tunes I came across recently. For openers, CLS and Wax come blasting into 2008 with “Broken,” a roller that’s nice and deep and sets the stage for the “lightheaded” portion of the mix. Qumulus weighs in with a couple of nice liquid tunes rolling you through as well. I was also recently reacquainted with Agent Alvin, who brings a particular deep electro vibe to the mix, while the addition of the DJ Friction and Prolix tunes provide some, if not all, of the “heavyhanded-ness” of the set. My general philosophy is to get your heartbeat thumping before easing off somewhat and then finish on a high. Dom N Roland and limewax take centre stage before the likes of Lynx and Mist-i-cal appear, with Cali and Logistix on the finish line. Let me know what you think
