Christmas is looming. It’s that time of the year when we all spend hideous amounts of cash on presents people don’t really want and sit around the TV watching archaic Christmas programs such as The Snowman (big up Raymond Briggs, badman ting truss), A Christmas Carol and Songs of Praise. Oh god, Songs of Praise, how much did that suck when it came on? You’d be happily enjoying what’s on TV, then all of a sudden the slowly panning shots of a Christian choir comes on and arghhhhhhhhhhh they start singing.

…Well, that’s what PFRadio is like at the moment. A small crippled child, dearly loved by it’s parents who may not quite make it through Christmas. Oh woe betide me, this is the END. THE ENDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.

I’ve been thinking over the past few months about the Phuture Frequency and Motion Podcasts and if there is any point of having two separate Podcasts when they could be potentially merged.

The plus side of putting all the Motion shows on Phuture Frequency would be a much more varied selection of genres and some extremely professional sounding radio shows being added to the archive. It will also give much more exposure to the current Motion djs. However, this would no longer make the Phuture Frequency podcast a Drum ‘n’ Bass only podcast (although it still will remain a predominantly d’n'b podcast) and this could potentially annoy people.

A couple months a go I thought to myself, jesus – I’m such a lazy bastard that I can’t even be arsed to hunt through the PFRadio web site to find another mix to listen to after this one finishes. That day I did not even leave the house. Instead, once the mix had finished I sat at my computer crying with pure joy, as on that day I came up with the idea of the Phuture Frequency Jukebox.

Ok well the latter of that didn’t happen, but my thought did prompt me to eventually do something about trying to make a jukebox type thing for the site (albeit months later). So with the help of the nifty XSPF flash player and a php script I coded, the Phuture Frequency Jukebox was born!

At the moment the play list (which is random and updates every few minutes) is just of the entire Phuture Frequency Drum ‘n’ Bass podcast archive and excludes all the Motion shows. There is no reason why I can’t do a Jukebox for Motion, and I will, I just need to see where the best place is to implement it on the site. But alas I am snowed under with what seems like endless University coursework so spare time is near non existent. Hooray.
