I’m not really sure what you call this kind of stuff. It’s garage and house based, but isn’t tilted at the dance floor in that typical sloggy style.
It’s a little too up to be ambient, but it’s got that deep, laid back vibe to it. There’s quite a few vocals in there, but some of these are pure instrumental grooves.
What ever you call it, I’m loving this stuff at the moment. Music that uplifts and makes you smile and dance about the house.
Big ups to Dusky (who I’m a bit late picking up on) and Martyn who LPs feature pretty heavily, and to Andrew Bayer who’s Anjunadeep label is well worth checking out if you’re feeling this vibe.
This is the perfect Summer mix for you lucky buggers in the northern hemisphere who aren’t freezing like I am at the bottom of the planet.
Get out side and play it loud.

You got to love it when a set rolls out smooth as silk, and is totally effortless. This was one of those, I just put on the first track and drifted into mix mode only to wake up an hour or so later with this tidy little number.
Once again I’ve given it a good testing in Low Profile mobile and it bumps along nicely. Again leaning toward four four territory rather than broken beats. This is totally unintentional, it’s just the house/techno side of things seem to be far stronger than the broken beats at the moment.
I’m sure the breaks will make a come back (they always do) but until then try this out for size.

That’s what’s needed right now. A new horizon, or at least a different perspective on the one I always look at.
Now’s not the time for standing still.
Now is the time for going on a journey.

Crazy times in Hobart town this month… I went out for a coffee and came back with a house.
It’s a very nice house, but I’ll miss the old castle. With everything that’s happened since I’ve moved here it’s become my home. My shelter.
However, life moves on and nothing ever stays the same. All we can really do is slowly dance through time.

The shortest day has come and gone and we met it head on. There was no hiding indoors or shrinking from the dark.
Some swam naked as the sky whale gently glided overhead. Others were drawn to the light that touched space.
While others feasted and danced until the darkness didn’t seem dark at all.
Dedicated to all those who helped make Dark Mofo the best winter festival ever.

I’ve entered an arms race. I’ve resisted for years, but an escualtion was inevitable. The vinyl disks I’ve spun like shuriken for so many years offer up no challenge any more.
I yearn to learn something new, something different to push my boundaries and improve my sonic aim. And so I’ve gone back to step one. To start again and mess up, mistime and fail.
And it feels good.

Belgian based Subreachers (formerly a duo) has been writing deep Dubstep since 2008. His second alias Matt Pulsar stands for an intelligent approach to drum and bass, influenced by the autonomic sound. Both projects incorporate atmospheric layers as a central element, be it dark or soulful. For Trust In Bass, Matt follows a dark, bass-heavy route through dubstep, taking the turn to intricate drum and bass half way through the mix.
This mix by Clearcut (Trust In Bass) for the dubstep.de Adventskalender 2012 revolves around footwork, trap, deep dubstep and techno – 143-160 bpm, 35 Hz subbass and some chopped-up, syncopated snares and claps.
Donnie Digital & Nasty Fingers aka London Nebel have been active in the German bass music scene for two years, yet they rank among the best-known producers. With strong connections to Basel based label, club night & artist pool Ten 11 12, they have managed to plant their dubstep seed in other artist’s minds as well. For 2013, Hatcha’s label Sin City has announced a London Nebel EP – you can hear these tunes for the first time in their mix for Trust In Bass.
Dutch based SuddenDeaf concentrate on writing footwork and trap. Their tunes show off a clean sound, not cluttered with samples – a rare case for both genres. With their Trust In Bass podcast, they show that deep dubstep, footwork and trap work together more than well in a mix.
As a producer and controllerist, Nonagon (San Francisco) is at once technical and expressive. Nonagon’s live sets are composed of original music and heavily improvised through hands-on manipulation. For Trust In Bass, he has taken this approach to the studio and has created a mix weaving delicate melodic threads through sub bass-infused beats.
In this mix for Russian based podcast Brokendubz, Clearcut (Trust In Bass) takes us from deep, dark dubstep tunes to soulful future garage and back again – in 83 minutes. Included are several dubs from fellow Trust In Bass producer Fedupfaction. Check out http://brokendubz.com/ for podcasts from the Russian scene.

Guy Andrews has come a long way since making ambient music and electronic jazz as “Iambic”. Under his real name, he has joined Untold’s label Hemlock with two tunes that bridge the gap between afrobeat and bass influenced techno. For Trust In Bass, he has gone down a route from experimental and minimal dubstep into straight techno, adding to the revival of space and textures in bass music.

Originally from Brighton, with a move to Bristol and starting producing in the same house as Wedge, Gatekeeper & Appleblim Then enrolling on a music tech course at Bath Spa University, his productions have come along way.
Arkist’s musical style in his own words takes in “dubstep, techno and house”. His biggest release to date was the neon flow of ‘Fill Your Coffee’ on Bristol based stalwart label Applepips. This summer he has scored a touch down on one of the most talked about labels in the world, Hotflush with ‘One Year Later’ working alongside Kidkut. Not only this, the flipside ‘Rendezvous’ was remixed by none other than the legendary Scuba. DJ wise Arkist has appeared at Fabric, Glastonbury, Glade festival and he has also toured the States extensively.
Since his remix of The Drop’s weighty ‘Looking To The Sky’ to the recent summer jazzy-soul remix of LV & Message To Bears’ ‘Explode’. What’s noticeable is his diversity in producing unique soundscapes that hint toward the bassy nature of Bristol, and how he’s able to further emote any track he is remixing. With his recent EP Mountains .hitting the stores for 2nd Drop, Heresy feel privaliged to be graced by this talented DJ and producer.
His style of Cinematic, atmospheric music on the edge of techno, dubstep, and hiphop, developed from a musical background in jazz, and as a pianist. Production started for him about 10 years ago with a Roland sampler, turntables and a 4 track tape recorder. He’s made lo-fi sample based trip-hop type stuff but as he got more into Djing, he looked to a more techy sound. Then a few years ago he got back into production, this time with a more technical approach inspired by the dance music he was hearing in London.
With a forthcoming Album and guest mix featured on Mary Ann Hobb’s Xfm Show, Dj Rum is a definite one to watch in the forthcoming year.
Brighton based producer, Guy Andrews, is fast proving to be one of the most promising bass music makers currently carving his way into the scene. He has set himself aside through blending elements of organic rhythmic percussion, influenced heavily by electro-acoustic, afrobeat and jazz; with modern bass-driven house and techno, creating a distinctive niche of more humanised yet highly electronic bass music.
With recent acclaim from XLR8R, Resident Advisor and Dummy Mag and DJ and radio support from the likes of Benji B, L-Vis 1990, Brackles, Sound Pellegrino and Untold a release on internationally recognised Discobelle imprint and a recent 12” on Hemlock comes with little surprise. His unique approach to music production lies in his ability to amalgamate elements from his favourite genres and blend them into cohesive tracks that boast originality and contain cross-genre appeal; this has helped him make his mark as both an aspiring bass music producer and DJ.
